CERTUS MULTIFUNCTION SAFETY MODULES: THE COMPACT SOLUTION FOR RELIABLE PROTECTION

High flexibility and considerable cost savings.

Lainate, April 2018 - Carlo Gavazzi Automation, the international electronics group with activities in the design, manufacture and marketing of electronic equipment, today presents four new safety modules, part of our Certus family.

These safety modules are able to monitor multiple safety functions of industrial machinery, protecting operators from dangerous moving parts of the machine, and are compliant with international standards.

The Certus multifunction safety modules consist of the following devices for industrial applications: the CM22D0A, a safety module with configurable outputs using a hex-switch and the CM40D0A and CM30D1A safety modules, which provide safety-related interruption of a safety circuit. They are used in applications with: E-stop, E-gate, limit switch, non contact switch, safety light curtains (ESPE Type 4, Type 2), safety light beam (single beam), safety mat.

The CL20D2A safety module is designed to be used in lift installations for floor levelling and re-levelling of the cabin. It is connected to the lift plant and to the lift controller board.

“With the launch of this new safety modules series, Carlo Gavazzi enhances its portfolio dedicated to safety, providing the highest level of protection for equipment and personnel”, Gianluigi Abenante, International Product Manager, states. “We are confident that these new modules will be warmly welcomed by the market, due to their multiple safety functions and competitive price.”

The Certus multifunction safety modules are targeted at specific applications such as machine centres with alternate load/unload, palletising system with robotic cells in the Packaging&Wrapping, Food&Beverage and Materials Handling markets, or cabin levelling in the Lifts&Escalators market.

Main technical features
• 4 OSSD safety outputs. Certus provides up to 4 Output Signal Switching Devices.
• Selectable delay time. Can be easily set through the hex-switch, selected from a choice of 15 pre-set configurations, from 0 to 30 sec. The main model CM22D0A can include 2 delayed digital outputs
• 2 auxiliary outputs. All the modules provide at least 1 auxiliary output. 2 auxiliary outputs for CL20D2A
• Compact dimensions: 1 DIN module 18x90x63 mm
• Lift Directive Compliance (EN81-20, EN81-50) (CL20D2A module only)
• Cat. 4 PL e in accordance with ISO 13849-1, SIL 3 in accordance with IEC 62061, SILcl 3 in accordance with IEC 61508
• TÜV approved

THE NEW EARTH LEAKAGE MONITORING RELAYS DEA71 AND DEB71

Monitoring solutions for electric circuits and loads to provide enhanced protection against electrocution or fire hazard.

Lainate, March 2018 - Carlo Gavazzi Automation, the international electronics group with activities in the design, manufacture and marketing of electronic equipment, presents two new modular residual current devices (MRCD).

These two types of earth leakage monitoring relays have been developed to be used for safety purposes, eliminating the risk of electrocution and preventing any possible fire caused by grounding and/or insulation failure.

The main advantage offered by our monitoring solution is avoiding nuisance tripping in the circuit, in accordance with the EN 60947-2 Annex M norm. A further warning signal at 60% current leakage, as well as the alarm, two outputs, fixed and adjustable models all in 35mm wide housing, complete the benefits provided to customers.

Time-saving installation, a reliable tripping level and safety against tampering are obtained thanks to fixed trip levels (on DEA71), easy setup and the lockable front cover.

“The DEA and DEB monitoring relays can be used on both three phase or single phase TN and TT earthing systems,” says Mark Wilkinson – International Product Manager. “With this launch Carlo Gavazzi is further expanding its range of monitoring relays, providing more and more flexibility and safety”.

Developed by our Competence Centre in Belluno (Italy), the DEA71 and DEB71 series are targeted at specific applications in industrial, commercial and residential buildings, data centres, motor management stations, water treatment and traffic management.

Main technical features
• DEA71 2 models with fixed trip setting: 30 mA and 300 mA
• DEB71 2 models with adjustable trip level: 30 mA to 5 A and 300 mA to 30 A
• 2 SPDT relay outputs, for warning and for alarm
• 24 VAC to 240 VAC power supply
• NORM DIN-rail housing 35 mm
• Lockable lid on adjustable models (DEB71)
