EM24DIN E1 - THE EASY AND COMPACT SOLUTION FOR ENERGY MEASUREMENT IN LAN NETWORKS

Particularly suitable for energy metering and cost allocation, even in MID applications.

Lainate, October 2018 - Carlo Gavazzi Automation, the international electronics group with activities in the design, manufacture and marketing of electronic equipment, today launches the 3-phase energy analyzer EM24-DIN with Modbus over an Ethernet port.

The Modbus TCP protocol is a specific version of the traditional Modbus RTU, which uses Ethernet over a TCP port. It can be used, without adding any further wiring, wherever a LAN is installed: a meter can just be added to the network via a suitable switch.

The EM24 series now has a Modbus TCP port, without requiring any external adaptor, while keeping all the advantages of its compact size and its ability to directly measure up to 65A or to manage 5A current transformers.

The EM24 is also certified according to MID Directive, Modules “B”+ “D” of Annex II, for legal metrology relevant to active electrical energy meters, so it can be used whenever a money transaction is due for the energy supply. Both the versions (65A and 5A) are also cULus certified for North American applications up to 480VLL.

“Main features of the EM24DIN E1 are its compact dimensions, which allow its installation also into small switchgears, and its flexibility,” Andrea Bernardi – International Product Manager, says. “With the launch of this device Carlo Gavazzi is taking a further step towards adding new protocols to its wide Energy Meter range, thus confirming its reputation as a worldwide supplier of innovative and cost and time effective metering solutions.”

Developed by our Competence Centre in Belluno, this energy analyzer is ideal for applications in industrial and building automation.

RGTS: THE NEW SOLID STATE SINGLE PHASE MOTOR SOFT STARTER

Robust and reliable soft starter for low starting torque single phase motors.

Lainate, October 2018 - Carlo Gavazzi Automation, the international electronics group with activities in the design, manufacture and marketing of electronic equipment, today presents its new single phase motor soft starter.

The RGTS is a very simple soft starter for low starting torque single phase AC induction motors. It only requires two easy settings for initial torque and ramp-up duration.

The RGTS is the perfect solution for fans and pumps running on 110 VAC up to 240 VAC, where the mains voltage is prone to sags. Particularly in a residential or in a light commercial environment, such voltage sags may cause disturbances to occupants as well as to sensitive electronic devices. In some cases, the high starting current may also cause protection devices to trip. The RGTS can considerably reduce the direct on line start current by 40%, thereby reducing such disturbances and ensuring better up-time.

Its robust design is also proven through the 100 kA short circuit current rating, making it compliant with the requirements of UL508a for industrial control panels. The fully solid state design makes this product ideal for application with frequent starts.

“We have seen an increasing trend for single phase soft starters. Our customers are asking for easy to configure products,” says Jason Demicoli – International Product Manager. “With this launch Carlo Gavazzi’s intention is to offer a wider soft starter products range for single phase motor applications, enabling us to further expand our sales in North America and in the Asiatic regions.”

Developed by our Competence Centre in Malta, the RGTS has been specifically designed for single phase motor in Water treatment, Agriculture, Building automation market applications such as pumps, fans and compressors.

Main technical features
• Simple interface with just 2 settings (resulting in reduced installation complexity)
• Fully solid state design (robust design for high frequency starts)
• 12 A up to 25 A in 54 mm wide housing
• Multi-voltage operation: 100 VAC up to 240 VAC
• Wide supply voltage range: 24 VAC/DC or 100 – 240 VAC versions
• 100 kA short circuit current rating
