SPDE SERIES: HIGH PERFORMANCE AND COMPACT DIMENSIONS FOR DIN-RAIL MOUNTING POWER SUPPLIES

High power output and ultra-compact design.

Lainate, November 2022 - Carlo Gavazzi Automation, the international electronics group with activities in the design, manufacture, and marketing of electronic equipment, today presents the new SPDE series, a very compact single-phase DIN-rail power supplies designed for electrical panels with limited space.

The SPDE series consists of 3 frame sizes, starting from 75 W with 32 mm width, to maximum 480 W with 48 mm width.

Its ultra-compact housing design allows it to save up to 50% panel space, making it ideal for applications where space limitations are required.

The high quality of these power supplies is certified by a series of industry approvals: CE, UKCA, UL61010, UL62368.

The SPDE series is extremely suitable for applications where high efficiency and wide operating temperatures are required. Thanks to the built-in PFC (on SPDE..R models) these power supplies assure high operating efficiency up to 94%, and a wide operating temperature range from -40ºC to +70ºC (-40ºF to +158ºF).

Integrated diagnostics and protection functions such as output short circuit, over current, over voltage, over temperature, provide maximum output protection even under abnormal conditions.

RVBS: VARIABLE FREQUENCY DRIVE FOR GENERAL PURPOSE USAGE

Compact and cost-effective solution with push-in terminals.

Lainate, November 2022 - Carlo Gavazzi Automation, the international electronics group with activities in the design, manufacture, and marketing of electronic equipment, today presents its new series of variable frequency drives.

The RVBS is a variable frequency drive for general purpose applications up to 0.75 kW in industrial and residential environments and its open board design results in a very compact solution to fit in small enclosures with limited spaces. Thanks to the push-in type connectors its installation is fast, saving considerable wiring time and it is also equipped with optimized features to control the speed of the 3-phase compressors with an induction motor.

Through its 2 digital inputs and 1 analog input, the RVBS offers a very flexible configuration to adapt to different application needs.

With Industry 4.0, monitoring and data exchange it has become more relevant as a means of improving efficiency or for preventive/predictive maintenance. The RVBS built-in Modbus RTU communication port facilitates its integration with an automation system and/or PLC whilst also allowing real-time status monitoring and data exchange.

RL: THE LITE SLIMLINE SOLID STATE RELAY SERIES FOR RESISTIVE LOADS

Panel space savings and minimized productivity disruptions.

Lainate, October 2022 - Carlo Gavazzi Automation, the international electronics group with activities in the design, manufacture, and marketing of electronic equipment, today presents a new series of solid state relays and solid state contactors – the RL series.

The RL series consists of 1-pole AC switching solid state relays suited for resistive loads. Two versions are available in the series – the RLC and the RLS. The RLC has an integrated heatsink and its product width ranges from 17.8 mm up to 22.5 mm. The RLC output consists of a TRIAC. The RLS has a product width of just 17.8 mm and is intended for chassis mounting or for mounting on an external heatsink. The RLS output also consists of a TRIAC. One variant in the RLS series is available with back to back thyristors (RLS..H).

Solid state solutions are synonymous with millions of trouble-free switching cycles since there are no moving parts. To further enhance reliability and reduce costly machine downtimes, the RL series uses wire bonding technology that reduces stresses from the power chips leading to an even longer lifetime of the solid state switch. In addition, the RL output has integrated overvoltage protection to prevent solid state relay damage from uncontrolled voltage surges and hence ensure productivity disruption is minimized.

The IRC40 inductive sensor family is a robust solution for daily indoor and outdoor operations to ensure accurate and reliable detection of actuating parts, such as skid conveyor positioning on conveyor systems, step missing detection on escalators and presence detection in amusement parks.

The IRC40 sensors are resistant to extreme operating conditions such as exposure to wide temperature variations, frequent high pressure, and high-temperature wash-down cycles. They offer flexible adjustment options and adaptability to any applications thanks to the 5-position of the sensing face.

RSGD 45 MM: SELF-LEARNING SOFT STARTERS WITH MODBUS COMMUNICATION FOR AC INDUCTION MOTORS

Very compact soft starter with minimal settings, self-learning algorithm and real-time monitoring.

Lainate, July 2022 - Carlo Gavazzi Automation, the international electronics group with activities in the design, manufacture and marketing of electronic equipment, today presents the RSGD 45mm soft starters with Modbus communication.

The RSGD soft-starters are equipped with a Modbus/RTU communication port via a 2-wire RS485 connection, allowing the user to have a complete and easy real time monitoring of the product. In that way variables for energy consumption, voltage, current and other electrical variables can be easily communicated to a PLC for real-time monitoring of the motor condition.

The integration of a Class 10 electronic overload provides an advanced motor protection and results in further space saving on the electrical panel. Phase sequence protection and overload function can be enabled and disabled easily through the frontal push button.

The RSGD is the easiest to use soft-starter for 3-phase AC motors, as only 3 setting are required (FLC, ramp-up, ramp-down). The self-learning algorithm adjusts the soft starters parameters to work with different applications and varying load conditions without the need of adjusting the initial torque setting.

“As a means to allow our customers to have a real-time condition monitoring of the product, we have selected Modbus as our main communication interface on the RSGD. This serial communication protocol enables detection of any deviations in performance providing sufficient historical data that facilitates troubleshooting activity in the case of faults,” Brian Gauci International Product Specialis states. “High efficiency motors require high levels of starting current, causing more disturbances to the electrical network. The NRG range of digital solid state relays by Carlo Gavazzi is designed to face the digital transformation currently undergoing in industrial automation. Incorporating switching, monitoring, and diagnostics through a communication interface, the NRG enables real-time monitoring that is crucial to predict failures, reduce unplanned downtimes and optimize machine performance.

RVPM: VARIABLE FREQUENCY DRIVE FOR BRUSHLESS DC, PERMANENT MAGNET AND INDUCTION MOTOR COMPRESSORS

Fully targeted at heat pumps, chillers and commercial air-conditioning designed with variable speed compressors.

In the HVAC industry, eco-design directives have forced OEMs to improve the efficiency of heat pumps over the whole heating season. This means that heat pumps need to work efficiently at different operating points. The efficiency of heat pumps, known as seasonal coefficient of performance (SCOP) must be above certain limits or else the heat pump cannot be placed on the EU market. For this reason, variable speed compressors are becoming more popular in this market.

The RVPM fits this market’s requirements as it provides a compact and fully compliant product for use in heat pumps, both for the residential as well as commercial sectors.

The RVPM is a frequency drive that is specifically designed for scroll compressors typically used in heat pumps, industrial air conditioners, chillers and also commercial refrigeration cabinets. This device is designed with a sensor less vector control that can be used with BLDC, PMAC and IM motor types. It comes in two housings, one utilising what is known as the cold-plate and the other one with a heatsink. The cold-plate design enables significant space savings in heat pumps.

“The reduced set of parameters required to setup the RVPM facilitates its installation. OEMs can start running their compressor in a matter of minutes as minimal configuration is required. The digital revolution in industrial automation is underway for a good reason. It opens the door to opportunities for manufacturers by facilitating machine optimization for better performance, lower costs, and higher reliability. This is all possible via an IIoT system which provides greater connectivity through a communication network that enables control and data collection from multiple IIoT devices.

The NRG system of digital solid state relays lends itself perfectly to the emerging needs of the digital revolution. On top of switching capabilities, the NRG incorporates fault identification and monitoring functionality of multiple system parameters. The NRG also includes a communication interface used simultaneously for data transfer and controlling the outputs of each solid state relay. WM15 POWER ANALYZER WITH M-BUS PORT: COST-EFFECTIVE METERING SOLUTION IN INDUSTRIAL APPLICATIONS

The WM15 is a power analyzer for single-, two- and three-phase systems that can be installed in every kind of switchboard to control energy consumption, main electrical variables, and harmonic distortion.

Next to the existing versions, with digital output and optional Modbus RTU port, a new version with embedded M-Bus port has been added. With this new option, unique in the market, the annoying need of interfacing the output of a panel mounted analyser with an external Modbus-to-M-Bus gateway (generally to be installed in a DIN-rail, thus requiring extra space and extra wiring) is no longer required.

The PSS App closes the gap between the user need (e.g.: “monitor 37 mA DC current”) and the item number Carlo Gavazzi proposes for the task. The PSS App’s first version smoothly eased the whole purchasing experience down to the very end. This new release provides the user with more information, support, and help to increase knowledge and confidence.

The interface remains highly intuitive and easily customizable, which has been the winning point for the PSS App from day one.

The PSS App, on top of being available for different devices, can be embedded in websites, making the user experience even smoother. 10 languages are available and more will be added soon. The App is for monitoring relays and timers.

The App is compatible with all platforms, such as PC, Android, and IoS smartphones and tablets.

RVDS: VARIABLE FREQUENCY DRIVE FOR INDUSTRIAL DOORS AND ENTRANCES

Compact and cost-effective solution that integrates all the functionalities required for the industrial doors with push-in terminals.

Lainate, January 2022 - Carlo Gavazzi Automation, the international electronics group with activities in the design, manufacture and marketing of electronic equipment, today presents its new series of variable frequency drives.

The RVDS is a frequency drive specifically designed for industrial doors such as rolling and sliding doors. Its open board design results in a very compact solution that can fit into electrical enclosures with limited space and, thanks to the push-in connectors, its installation is faster and more reliable, saving considerable wiring time.

This device is equipped with dedicated functions that are well suited for the doors and entrances market such as reversing, multi-speed operation, external braking, and management of an external electro-mechanical brake. Through its 5 digital inputs the RVDS offers a very flexible configuration to adapt to different application requirements.

Furthermore, the built-in Modbus RTU communication port facilitates integration with an automation system and/or PLC whilst also allowing real time status monitoring.

“With Industry 4.0, monitoring and data exchange has become more relevant as a means of improving efficiency or for predictive maintenance. To address this, we have selected Modbus as our main communication interface.
